Familiar Faces and Remnants and Short North Tavern Oh MY!

This has been a super busy month and the train is not going to be slowing down any time soon!  The solo show "Familiar Faces" opened on Friday, May 8th and it was very successful.  Talked to a lot of folks and hopefully made some new contacts.  This show will be up for one more open studio and Farmer's Market on May 23rd from 11am-2pm.  This will be the last chance to see all of these pieces together before they are scattered around at different venues around town!

Next up will be the Creative Arts of Women "Remnants" Show at the Ohio State Urban Art Space. Show dates are  May 26th thru July 11th with the opening on May 30th 6-8pm.  Here is a little teaser since its an all new medium for me...wall installed mixed media installation.

Spring is in the Air!

  So excited for the springtime and all of the possibility. I am taking part in a show with the Creative Art of Women and have been hard at work pulling out something different and very emotional.  My art is usually "just for fun"...but we'll see where this all takes me.  Here is a little taste.  This part is still in process but I'm feeling ok about where it is going.  This is the playhouse that my father built for me when I was little.  It was a childhood treasure to me and I spent many seasons inside.

October Show at Big Fun Columbus

Urban Scrawl

Urban Scrawl 8 is coming up this weekend!  It's a two day mural creating festival held at 400 West Rich Art Studios in the heart of East Franklinton.  I'm so excited to be chosen for a second year to be able to create a panel!  And here is the sketch that I will be working with.  Still a little pop art but not in my usual style. Something a little more fluid...

O-Hi-O, I didn't make the Show...

A couple images of a piece that I recently created for the Ohio State Fair Fine Art Show...Didn't make it in but I had fun putting it together.  The image is one that was taken of my parents and brother long before I came along.  Looks to be about the late 60's...I didn't come around until '79, so a whole life before me.  It's almost like looking into another family when I look at these pictures.

Ohio Art League Spring Juried Exhibition

This is a mixed media piece that was accepted into the Ohio Art League Spring Juried Show being held at the Carnegie Gallery at the Main Branch of the Columbus Library.  This is a really excellent show with a vast range of styles and artists and will be up thru June 27th.  The juror for this show was Denny Griffith, president of CCAD.  This is an awesome opportunity and I'm very proud to have a piece represented!

Working on an upcoming show!

In the process of putting together a show once again for Max the Salon.  So excited that I was invited back to be able to hang some art in a very awesome and busy salon. Keeping the fingers crossed that it all looks good in the end!!

Sneak Peek

 

A little sneak peek at an upcoming realistic piece that I am doing to enter the Spring Ohio Art League Juried Show!  This little guy is on an 8x10 wood panel and is just in the beginning phases.  More to come once I finish up a couple of Commissions!

Christmas Commissions!

I can finally take a minute and share some of the commissions that I was so fortunate to be asked to do for Christmas presents this year.  I always wait in case...hate to spoil a good surprise!

Some recent commission work done this year!  Wanted to share and let everyone know that I can do art for gifts or for you! I'll work with you and come up with something that you love!

A portrait of a client's fiance with the true love of her life, Frank Sinatra!  She should have received it for her wedding present by now, so I had to finally share it!

I'll even do things that you won't believe!  How about Judy Garland, Keanu Reeves with the background from American Gothic with CATS!  This was a fun commission that I was able to do that combined everything that someone liked! Best Wedding present EVER!

June is the perfect month for art!

Getting lots of art done this month!  I just finished up with the Big Local Art Tent at the Columbus Arts Festival and now I am working on pieces for my solo show at the Short North Tavern                                     ( http://www.shortnorth.org/dining/short-north-tavern ) for the month of July!

Still showing pieces at the Village Idiot, just south of campus, Travonna Coffee House in the Short North and at The Sweet Salvage Shop in Old Hilliard. So many places to buy Pop Art!

Oh and I'll be showing at an Open Show at CS Gallery on Parsons with opening on June 22!  Please come out and say HI!

Here's a little taste of something new I have been working on.  A little Frida Kahlo Altarpiece! It looks much better in person...I keep wondering if I should have added a light to the thing ;)
